Who is Dahlia - introduction to aspirations and achievements.

 Born in Upstate, NY, Dahlia Midyette,  influenced by an environment that displayed a lack of diversity. The atmosphere did not fulfill her desire to see herself reflected in the world around her. Growing up in a world that did not even slightly mirror Black and Brown people in diverse avenues. She became destined to express beauty, traditions, images, creativity, stories, all from a minority perspective. Dahlia has a passion for uplifting and telling the stories of Black and other minority people through a multimedia lens. 


She attends SUNY Buffalo State College and will graduate in Fall 2021. Studying communications, journalism, and African American studies, she has sharpened her photography, cinematography, and storytelling artistry. She has a heritage that speaks to the Black Diaspora: African American and Puerto Rican. Dahlia, inspired by the visual language that speaks to the soul. Her creative intention is to reveal; elegance and honesty of those living, thriving and surviving within the margins of society, always with dignity. Dahlia hopes to become involved in much different industry’s where she can utilize her creativity, compassion, and leadership skills to continue to create space for her minority peers. 


 “I often think about what my legacy will be and the contributions I will make in society. I am a storyteller through photography, cinematography, and literature. If anything, the content I create will tell the stories left untold and display the beauty of the African Diaspora and humanity.”

 Families at the U.S-Mexican Border attempting to cross over into the U.S for a better life are being met with strict resistance. Once crossing over if caught by the U.S government are then detained and oftentimes children are being separated from their parents. Many of these children are only following their parents' leads and doing what they are told. These children do not understand the full ramifications of their parents’ decision. Some of the children crossing the border are being sent alone to escape poverty, drugs, crime, and an overall lack of resources.  The United States is known for enforcing strict immigration policies and has always addressed illegal immigration as an issue that needs to be controlled. The numbers are skyrocketing, but the U.S has failed to find a solution that safely protects these children.
